A Picture from Neil
Neil was on one of our trips earlier this year. If you were there you will know that he was always drawing, painting, and taking pictures (with his IPad), even doing sketches of compiled scenery for each of us as we drove along in the van! He sent me, among with some other art, this picture of his. Cool. Thanks Neil! BTW Neil, I'm really sorry when I uploaded it it put a Mountain Freedom watermark at the bottom and I can't get rid of it - I take no credit for the picture it's all yours!

The BEN
No not Ben Robinson, you gnomes!
Carl, Ceri, and Rob sent me this jolly little vid they made of our jaunt on Ben Nevis a while back.
I'd just like to point out that Taz "The Trainer" - the gent you may notice sporting a pair of baseball boots and carrying little other than an unexplained karrimat was not part of our party. To be fair to him he was pleasant, chatty, and gracious enough to turn back when he realised he was scaring us. And himself. We'd even had to stop chopping steps and put on crampons in a effort to stop him following us. Shame that 'cos Rob was really keen on hacking at snow and would carry his axe upside down most of the time in order to be ready to hack at any moment. He would grudgingly turn it round on any steeper, slippier slopes.
Taz also got top marks for leaving the pole I leant him to get down in the Ben Nevis Inn, where I picked it up later. Nice chap, if a little poorly shod.
This was a rare occasion when we had the summit of the Ben to ourselves. Funny that.
Thanks to Carl, Ceri, and Rob for a great day. Oh, and I asked them what their hillwalking experience was and they said "None at all, not even in summer"

Another fine summer season
Well now it's heading into the cold dark months and I have a little time before the winter season starts so it's being utilised to update the website, sort out some piccies, and get some planning work done ready for next year's activities.
Before I do that, I'll just take a moment to say thanks to everyone who has been out on the hills with me this year - there have been many memorable days and I've enjoyed very much spending some time in your company, despite the floods/gales/midges/bog/sunburn/clegs/ breakfasts in bad hotels masquerading as bad taxidermist's workshops (delete as appropriate to you own experience ;-) ).

A wander towards An Sguman
Nobody visits An Sguman. It's a lump of less boggy ground in the middle of a bog. In fact Ididn't even visit it today- although I have done in the past!! Having said that, the moors between Glen Brittle and Rubha Dunan give great views in every direction and without going very far you can feel as if you've stepped into another, more tranquil, universe. Flogging through all that boggy tussocky ground is a great workout too.
Heading over to Glenbrittle- Sgurr A'Mhadaidh and Sgurr Thuilm.
Looking up into Coire Lagan.
At the back of the Coire Sgurr Mhich Coinnich was looking pretty gnarly.

Thankful for a slow computer!
Whilst most people are wanting faster more efficient processors (including me of course), at the moment I'm thankful for my cranky old KTD box. It does fine really but once you start handling lots of pictures and graphics and juggling piles of web pages and stuff it slows down a bit. I've just been sorting through loads of pictures and trying to work on overhauling the MF website, and it's quite hard work as I have a sore paw at the moment and can't spend too long at a stretch clicking madly away with the mouse. So my laid back computer is helping the convalescence by making sure that there is lots of built in break time as it plods on with batch processing all the photos..
Here's a few that caught my eye as they flashed by:

Hi, Welcome to Mountain Freedom!
It's been a while coming but I finally got round to starting a blog for Mountain Freedom - here you'll find news and information about among other things, outdoor adventures in Scotland and further afield.
Hopefully there will be reports on days out in the hills, guided trips, thoughts on equipment, photos, videos, musical projects, and whatnot.
But like all these things you never quite know how it's going to end up, so enough of the patter and on with the content!....
